                                Minutes of Regular Meeting Held June 27, 2012

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located at the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05pm and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. There were 39 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous month's meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                President's Report: The President, Tom Loughney, reported on the great turnout that we had for Field Day on June 23 and 24th. A lot of members showed up to help set-up, to work the radios, to help in cooking and to tear down. We thank everyone that participated.

                                A reminder that we have a Tuesday night Ragchew Net on 146.67- (PL110.9) at 7:30 – 8:00pm. Please check in. We ALSO have a Monday night D-Star net on 145.320 – (K4WPB c) at 7:00 – 8:00pm. PLEASE check in there also.

                                Our Gateway software is still being set up and tested for the D-Star Repeater. This will enable the use of a DV-Dongle and next month, (July), we will have a short presentation on that.

                                A reminder that on Saturday, August 4th, there will be an ARRL VE Testing at 11 am in the Club Room at the Museum

                                Some members still owe for dues. It is extremely important that they pay since many Club expenses such as door prizes, refreshments, food for picnics, etc comes from the dues.

                                Secretary's Report: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary, reported that, as usual, the Club's monthly Meeting Minutes can be found on the Website. If anyone has not received their membership cards, please notify Jerry, and remember to pick it up when you come by the Club Radio Room at the Museum

                                Treasurer's Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, Treasurer, reported that the balance in the Group's Checking account was $ 3,558.79

                                Committee Reports:
                                Science Museum – Jerry Grant reported that volunteering for the weekdays during the
                                Summer Science Camp was coming along nicely. We still need some new faces for
                                the weekends

                                Instructional – Tom Loughney reported that the Technician Class will start on
                                Saturday, July 7th at the Fire Station on U.S 1 just south of Southern Blvd. The
                                General Class will be starting on Sunday September 9th. More information will follow

                                Minutes of Regular Meeting Held May 23, 2012

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located at the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:09pm and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. There were 36 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous month's meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                President's Report: The President, Tom Loughney, talked about the Dayton Hamfest and showed off some of the new radios that were being displayed at the event. He specifically mentioned the new Yaesu FTDX3000 HF Radio and FT1D Digital Voice HT. Also mentioned was the Kenwood TS-990S HF Radio as well as the new Flex radio 6000 Series HF radio with options for VHF

                                Tom talked about Field Day that was coming up on June 23 and 24th at John Prince Park. We need volunteers to work, log and operate. Please contact Tom at aj4xm@yahoo.com and add your names to the “sign-up” sheet.

                                The Tuesday night Ragchew Net is on 146.67 (PL110.9) at 7:30 – 8:00pm. PLEASE check in. We also have a Monday night D-Star net at 145.320- (K4WPB C) at 7:00 – 8:00pm. PLEASE check in there, also.

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:12 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. There were 48 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous month's meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                President's Report: The President, Tom Loughney, reported that April 25th, our meeting day, was the birthday of Marconi, and to celebrate, we had purchased a large birthday cake which was to be served during the break. The March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon was scheduled for April 28th at John Prince Park. Jerry Grant, Secretary, reported that all the volunteers had been assigned their locations and that everything was ready for the event.

                                Field Day is coming on June 23 and 24th at John Prince Park. Tom stated that volunteers were needed to work, log & operate. Please contact Tom at aj4xm@yahoo.com to volunteers.

                                The Field Trip to the Coast Guard Station had to be cancelled because our host had fallen and broken a necessary bone in his upper arm..

                                Secretary's Report – Jerry Grant reported that our membership was over 110 members. All the minutes from previous meetings were now posted on the Club's website. If you haven't received your membership card after having paid your dues, please contact him. Anyone wishing a Club shirt, please contact the Secretary for information.

                                Treasurer's Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, Treasurer, reported that the Treasury contained $3,303.21. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer's report. It was seconded and approved.

                                Committee Reports:

                                Science Museum Committee – The Science Museum's Summer Camp Program begins in June and
                                runs through August. We will need two volunteers daily, throughout the Camp season and they
                                will be at the Museum from 10 AM until 1 PM daily

                                501(c)3 Committee – John Van Sickle, KK4ENU, reported that the application had been sent in. We still
                                need more contributions to pay for the process.

                                Instructional Committee – A Technician Class is planned for June or July. We're looking at holding
                                the Class possibly at our old meeting location at Fire Station Number 2 located on S. Dixie
                                Highway

                                Since there was no Old Business or New Business, a motion was made and approved that the meeting
                                be adjourned. It was seconded and approved and the meeting ended at 7:35 PM

                                Program: Dr Terry. Redding, W6LMJ, gave a fantastic Presentation on “ARISS – Working The International Space Station”

                                Minutes of Regular Meeting Held March 28, 2012

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located at the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM,President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. There was 49 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous month's meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney, reported that the committee that was researching the 501(c)3 Corporation had researched, with the aid of the attorney from the company that was preparing the paperwork, and stated that several minor changes were needed. The Club's name should be changed to “West Palm Beach Amateur Radio Group” and that in our by-laws and Articles of Incorporation, the words “recreational and social” should be replaced with the words “educational” in order to qualify for the 501(c)3 definition. A motion was made to that effect, seconded, and a unanimous vote awarded the change.

                                The Club Picnic on March 25th was a huge success. Over fifty guests arrived and enjoyed the food and the camaraderie.

                                A County-Wide Emergency test was going to be held on April 6th. Anyone wishing to help out was to call their local ARES representative.

                                An ARRL VE Test session was scheduled on April 7th at the Radio Room in the Museum. Anyone wishing to upgrade their license, or who knows someone wishing to take their Technician exam, should notify Bob Hagans, W4SOG.

                                The March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon was scheduled for April 28th at John Prince Park. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary.

                                We're now in the planning stage for Field Day, the last full weekend in June. We need antennas for towers, plus a few other items. Tom will be sending out emails regarding Field Day during the next several weeks.

                                Dues are still due from some members. Please, it is important to pay the annual dues when it's due, annually.

                                Minutes of regular Meeting Held January 25, 2012

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located in the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. There were 58 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous months' meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney, stated that the Club Awards, which were announced at the December Holiday Party/Dinner, had arrived and he presented the plaques to Bob Hagans, W4SOG, who won “Ham of the Year”, and to Bob DeMaio. KJ4WAV, (in absentia) who won “Volunteer of the Year”. Tom talked about the VHF Contest at the Park, which was held the previous Sunday. Bob Startez, K1KZV, spoke briefly about what went on at the site, and Rex Rathbun, AJ4GC, and Mike McIntosh, KJ4RHP, spoke about their experience driving around with a mobile unit. Rex and Mike had brought their trailer to the Museum for the membership to view and invited those who hadn't seen it prior to the meeting, to go look at it after the meeting was over.

                                Tom again mentioned that membership dues were owed by many members who had their membership expire on December 31, 2011. Please, if you're one of that group, send your dues in to Jerry Grant, Secretary, or to Bev Hoff, Treasurer.

                                A reminder that Tuesday night is Ragchew Net night on the 146.67 Repeater (PL110.9) at 7:30 – 8:00 PM and on Wednesday night is the D-Star net at 145.320 (K4WPB C) at 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Please check in to both nets

                                Secretary's Report: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary, again stated that the Minutes of previous months meetings were on the Club Website and that only paid up members had access to view the Board of Directors Meeting Minutes. Club Shirts were available if anyone wished to order them Jerry stated that he would be sending out another email in several days that had an order blank on it and that anyone wishing to purchase a shirt could mail him the form with a check.

                                Treasurer's Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, Treasurer reported that as of 7 PM that evening, the Club Treasury had $2,753.79. Again, anyone wishing to pay their $20 annual dues was welcome to give her the money that evening. Several new members did join prior to the meeting starting.

                                Committee Reports:

                                Science Museum - Jerry Grant reported that there was not a large need for Museum
                                Volunteers in January, or so far, in February. There was not a large number of school
                                Groups registered yet, to visit the Museum. Jerry also reported that the Science
                                Museum, in a joint venture with the West Palm Beach Amateur Radio Club was
                                Applying to NASA to obtain permission to sponsor youngsters to talk to one of the
                                Astronauts in the International Space Station. Further information will be given as the
                                Process develops

                                Instructional – The new General Licensing Class was beginning on January 28, 2012
                                At 10 AM at the Museum. Currently we had approximately twenty two individuals
                                Signed up to take the class

                                Minutes of regular Meeting Held December 28, 2011

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located in the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Members, Guests and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction of officers and guests were made. There were 37 members and guests present. The Minutes of the previous months' meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney spoke about the successful Holiday Party the Club had at Cardello's Restaurant in North Palm Beach on Sunday, December 11th at 7 PM. The food was good and the camaraderie was excellent.

                                Tom reminded the membership that if they were going to purchase anything from Amazon.com, they should go our website first and from there on to the site. That way the Club would be able to earn a few cents from every purchase made.

                                The Club would appreciate donations of equipment and funds. You may donate via PayPal/Credit Card on the Website.

                                The Club Raffle for the Yaesu FT 8800 would be held at the end of the January, 2012 meeting

                                Treasurers Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, stated that the Club treasury has $2,443.79 including the reserve funds. Dues notifications have been sent out for those members who should have paid by December 31, 2011. Please pay your dues as soon as possible since the Club has several repetitive obligations that are coming due shortly.

                                Committee Reports:
                                Science Museum – Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported that volunteers for January are still needed for
                                several days. There aren't many school groups registered for January, but we still need several
                                licensee's for a couple of days

                                Instructional – In the absence of David Fowler, K4DLF, Jerry Grant stated that the General Licensing
                                Class was starting on January 28th, at the Science Museum, at 10 AM. David Fowler and several
                                other members would be instructing. Over 500 postcards had been sent out to Technician
                                Licensee's inviting them to attend. Jerry is keeping track of those attending.
                                Repeater Updates – It was mentioned that we still needed Gateway Software for the D-Star
                                Repeater

                                Old Business: None

                                New Business: Norm Jeweler from the Sheriff's Department made a brief presentation stating
                                that Volunteer Dispatchers were needed. Their office is at the Cresthaven Shopping Center and they can be reached at (561) 433-2003 if anyone is interested in volunteering

                                Program: The Program for the evening was a lively and informative session run by the Club President, Tom Loughney, leading a group session on what the Membership was interested in having the Club do for meeting programs and Club events. Many ideas were presented and talked about. From the conversations, we obtained some great ideas for presentations. 2012 should be a fantastic year!!

                                Location: Motorola Theatre located in the South Florida Science Museum, Dreher Park, West Palm Beach, FL 33405

                                Introduction of Member, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction was made of Officers and guests. There were 44 members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney spoke about the CROSWalk, an event directed by Rex Rathbun, AJ4GC, annually, which was done in a professional and well organized manor. Many thanks to Rex for his efforts. Tom spoke to the membership about the Melbourne Hamfest which had occurred a week or so earlier. Even though the tailgate was rained out, the inside booths were successful.

                                The Club had sponsored a “Fabulous at 50” Special Event Operating Station at the Museum
                                But, because of severe RFI, the event was basically cancelled. The “WAPB” Contest on October 22 and 23rd (“Get On The Air”) was also “underwhelming”. We will try again next year

                                Tom gave a reminder to the membership about the South Florida Hamfest occurring on November 5th in Delray Beach

                                The WPB Amateur Radio Clubs “Fall Frolic” Picnic is coming up on November 20th. It will be held, again, in Dreher Park, just across from the Science Museum and we'll be having several “Fox Hunts” totest the members abilities.

                                We're still attempting to get more people signed up for the “Radio In The Swamp” on December 2 through 4th at Billie Swamp Safari. We have to have several more signups or else the event will be cancelled.
                                Also, the Holiday Party is scheduled for Sunday, December 11th, at 7 PM at Cardellos Restaurant on Northlake Blvd. The cost is $25 per person and must be prepaid to the Treasurer. It's an “all you can eat” buffet…Must be prepaid, No payment at the event. The Buffet includes Soup, Salad, Sides and Entrees, Sodas, Coffee, Tea, and TIP.

                                Secretaries Report: Jerry Grant, Secretary, reminded everyone that the previous months meetings are posted on the Club website. Only registered and paid-up members have access to the Boards Minutes. If you haven't received a Club membership card, please notify Jerry. You can still order Club Shirts. Please see Jerry during the meeting, or contact him via email so that he can order a shirt for you.

                                Treasurers Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, Treasurer reported on receipts, expenses, and the balance in the Club treasury. Everything balanced perfectly.

                                Committee Reports:
                                Science Museum Committee – WS4FSM- Jerry Grant reported that we had sufficient volunteers for the
                                month of November. The Museum seemed very satisfied with what we've been doing and the guests all
                                seem to enjoy and appreciate the exhibit

                                Instructional Committee – David Fowler, K4DLF, was absent from the meeting, however the membership
                                was told that “General” Classes would be starting on January 7th, 2012. The class would be for 8 weeks

                                The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM for ten minutes so the membership could have refreshments and also purchase tickets for the raffles.

                                Program: Tim McDow, KM4EF, an active member of the JTRC, gave a fantastic presentation on “FOX HUNTING” Since the Club was going to have a Fox Hunt at their picnic in November, this was a great time for this particular presentation

                                President's Report: The President, tom Loughney, spoke about the upcoming ARRL Florida State Convention that was going to be held at the Melbourne Hamfest on October 8th and 9th. He reminded those present that this was a well attended Hamfest and that those who have attended in the past were delighted with the event..

                                Coming up on October 22nd, was going to be a “Special Event” for the South Florida Science Museum's 50th Anniversary. We will be needing some volunteers at the Museum's Radio Station to help “work” the radios.

                                Also, on October 22nd and 23rd, the West Palm Beach Amateur Radio Club would be sponsoring the “Worked All Palm Beach” Contest. We will be needing volunteers to “man the station” while this event is in progress. On November 13th, the Club will be having its “Fall Frolic” Picnic in Dreher Park, directly across from the Museum. Good Food will be the order of the day and everyone should enjoy the camaraderie.

                                Tom gave a reminder that Jerry Grant, the Club Secretary, was taking advance reservations for the December 2nd through 4th Operating Event we are sponsoring at “Billie's Swamp Safari” up in the Clewiston area. Call or email Jerry to make a reservation, show an interest, or just ask a question. This “Radio In The Swamp” should be a fun and inexpensive weekend.

                                Daniel Sanchez, KJ4PWP, our Webmaster, has done a magnificent job updating our web site. You may go there for the latest Club information plus you may order from Amazon.com. The Club does make a few pennies each time you purchase something through that site.

                                The Club is also looking for donations, either equipment or funding. You may donate via PayPal or Credit Card on the Website.

                                There will be a new raffle starting in October for a different type of Radio. We'll start selling the tickets in October, and the drawing should take place during the first Club meeting in January, 2012.

                                Secretary's Report: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary, reported that the Club's minutes are now posted the Club Website for everyone to view. Only registered and paid members will have access to the Board of Directors minutes. Jerry, again, made the announcement that you should only be on his “special” email list one time. If you are getting duplicate emails from him, please let him know so that he can check his database. Anyone who has not received their 2011 membership cards should notify the Secretary as soon as possible. The first batch of Club Shirts are in and waiting to be picked up. Anyone wishing to purchase a Club shirt, please ask the Secretary for an order form

                                Committee's Report:
                                Science Museum – Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported that there was just a few schools coming into the
                                Museum in October, and those days were covered. He expected that starting in November, the
                                School Groups should be a little larger.

                                Instructional – David Fowler, K4DLF was not absent from the meeting, but it was reported that we were
                                planning on starting a General Class sometime in the month of January, 2012

                                New Business: Tom Loughney, President, announced that he was appointing a Nominating Committee for the election of officers for 2012. The current Officers have all indicated that they would stay on for another one year term. If anyone wants to nominate someone for a officer position, please notify someone on the Nominating Committee and send an email or letter making your nomination. The members of the Nominating Committee are: Rex Rathbun, Mike Rentz, and Bob Hagans.

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction was made of Officers and guests. There were 30 members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                President's Report: The President, Tom Loughney spoke about this months raffle of the Icom ID-880H D-Star R. Radio. He reminded everyone that the raffle would be held this evening after the meeting and before the guest speaker made his presentation. Anyone interested would still be able to purchase a ticket. Tom reminded everyone that the ARRL ARES ENCOMM Class was going to be held on September 10th. Anyone interested should speak to Sandy Wolf, WB2MBV, regarding the Class.

                                Tom also reminded everyone about the ARRL Florida State Convention that was going to be held at the Melbourne Hamfest on October 8th and 9th. Anyone intending to go, if interested, could possibly arrange to share a car with others. A reminder was given concerning the South Florida Science Museums 50th Anniversary. The Club was going to be having a Special Event Station at the Museum and the date for this event was going to be on October 22nd. Anyone interested should contact the Club Secretary, Jerry Grant, so that he would be able to place them on the schedule.

                                A reminder was given concerning another Hamfest to be held on November 5th. It's the South Florida Hamfest and will be down in Delray Beach. Further information will be forthcoming.

                                The Club is attempting to have many different type of events for the Membership as well as other Amateur Radio Licensees. On the first weekend in December, December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, the Club is organizing a “Radio in the Swamp” to be held in Clewiston at the “Billie Swamp Safari”. The Club Secretary, Jerry Grant, has been able to get a fifty percent discount at the facility and has arranged for sleeping accommodations for those interested. It should be a fun weekend with the weather being cooler, no mosquitoes, and lots of wetlands around to help propagation. It'll be a Special Event Weekend celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Billie Swamp Safari.

                                Thanks to Daniel Sanchez, KJ4PWP, the Club website has been totally updated and looks fabulous. Go there for the latest information plus when you're ordering anything from Amazon.com. You get the Amazon price and the Club makes a few pennies on each purchase. The Club Newsletter will soon be posted on the Website with the option to download.

                                There has been some discussion with the Executive Board (all members are invited to attend Board Meetings) that will entitle paid members to exclusive mailings, discounts, coupons, etc. Paid members will also have access to other areas on the web site.

                                Donations are invited!! If you have, or know people who would like to donate equipment and/or cash to the Club it would be greatly appreciated. You can donate using PayPal/Credit Card on our website.

                                Tom, at this point, received an ARRL Presentation for the Club's 40 Years affiliation with the ARRL. He also thanked Joe Novak, one of our members, for his contribution of a VHF/UHF Antenna to the Museum, as well as several other items. They will be used.

                                Secretary's Report: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported again, that the Clubs past minutes are being posted on the Club Website for everyone to see. Only paid registered and paid members have access to the Board Minutes. Jerry has been maintaining a large email database. You should only be receiving one email at a time from him, unless you subscribe to several groups on the Internet. If you are getting two duplicates from him, please let him know so that he can check his database. Membership cards are being sent out to all new members. If you have not received one, please let Jerry know. The Club Shirts are now available. The are at the meeting and you can order them from Jerry. He will be sending out an announcement with ordering instructions shortly (within one day). Anyone interested in going to Billie Swamp Safari in December, please let Jerry know.

                                Treasurer's Report: Bev Hoff, Treasurer, K1BEV, reported that the Club checkbook had a balance of $2,275..08 as of the meeting night, and that everything has balanced perfectly.

                                Committee's Report:

                                Science Museum – Jerry Grant reported that attendance was down substantially now that school was back in session. There were no school groups registered yet for September, but that he would get the October Calendar out as soon as he saw any groups planned for the month of October. The Radio Room hours will be from 10 AM until 1 PM on school days when groups are involved, and the regular hours will prevaiol on weekends as usual.

                                Instructional – David Fowler reported that the Technician Class was finished and it was determined that the General Class will be given in January of 2012 because the Holiday season coming up, will make it difficult to get students. Bob Staretz's class on Basic Electronics was completed. The membership thanked him and Mike Rentz for the excellent work they did

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction was made of officers, members and guests. There were 34 members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney, reported that our Treasurer, David Fowler, K4DLF, had resigned from his position due to his huge workload with the ARRL. Since nothing was mentioned in the Clubs By-Laws, it was considered “silent” as to appointment of replacement, which meant that he was allowed to appoint a new Treasurer for the balance of the year. With the approval of the Board of Directors, he appointed Bev Hoff, K1BEV, as interim Treasurer pending a vote by the Club. A motion was made and seconded that Beverly Hoff, K1BEV, be appointed interim Treasurer for the balance of this year. A unanimous vote approved Ms. Hoff as the club Treasurer.

                                Tom went on to state that Field Day, on the last weekend in June, was a tremendous success, and that all involved were delighted with the points made and the results of our first Field Day at the Science Museum. Another raffle for an Icom ID-880 was being held and that the drawing would be made at the August meeting. Members were urged to purchase raffle tickets for the August drawing. Tom reminded all present about the “Fall Frolic” picnic which was going to be held in Dreher Park on November 13th.

                                Regarding our e-mail lists, everyone should be on it for one time. There should be no duplicate mailings. A Club newsletter will be sent via e-mail and paid members will receive some exclusive mailings (coupons, discounts, etc.). Paid members will also have access to other areas on the web site.

                                Our Club Website Forum is now operational and Club members are urged to participate. Also, we are in need of donations for equipment and for funding other activities. Anything donated will be greatly appreciated.

                                Secretaries Report: Jerry announced that all minutes from previous meetings will be posted on the Club Website. Membership cards have all been sent out. If any paid member has NOT received a Club membership card, please notify him. Club shirts have been ordered (samples), thanks to the help of our new member, Ken Wurtzel. We will have them to look at during the August meeting.

                                Treasurers Report: Bev Hoff, K1BEV, announced that we have a balance in the Club treasury of $2,144.00. She proceeded to break it down into various categories.







                                Committee Reports:

                                Science Museum – Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, announced that Science Camp will be over on August 18th
                                and that our scheduling for volunteers will be changing to only 10 AM until 1 PM on weekdays when
                                school groups are scheduled to attend. Anyone wishing to volunteer for a 3 hour shift should contact him. Also, any paid member wishing to use the equipment in the “Radio Shack” at the Museum should contact him to be scheduled.

                                Instructional: David Fowler, K4DLF, announced that that Technician Class is well underway and
                                That we hope to have a General Class beginning in either mid- September or early October. Also, Bob
                                Staretz, K1KCV, announced that the Basic Electronics class was going well and should be finished

                                INTRODUCTION OF MEMBERS, GUESTS AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction was made of Officers, members and guests. There were forty seven members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months' meeting (February) had not been finished due to the Secretary's absence in February. One of the other officers was taking care of preparing the February minutes

                                PRESIDENTS REPORT: The President made mention of the pending Federal legislation regarding the threat to the 440 megahertz frequency. It was HR607 and the membership was urged to send emails to their state representatives. A brief report was made on the Orlando Hamfest, the West Palm Beach Hamfest, and the upcoming Stuart Hamfest. Tom briefly spoke about the Club Raffle that was going to occur at the April 27th Club meeting. It was assumed that sufficient tickets would be sold to allow us to purchase and give away a D Star radio for the raffle. Tom reminded the membership about the “Spring Fling” Club picnic being held at Dreher Park on April 17th, right in front of the Museum. The last part of the Presidents report was a reminder that there was going to be a Florida QSO Party on April 30 and May 1st

                                SECRETARYS REPORT: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary, restated that the February minutes would be obtained from one of the Club officers and that he would get the February meeting minutes out prior to the April meeting. Recruiting is coming along nicely. Hundreds of club postcards are being mailed to licensees in the area announcing Club activities. Also, weekly emails are being sent to many members and non-members announcing everything from our weekly Sunday breakfasts to what's happening at the Museum, etc.

                                TREASURERS REPORT: David Fowler, K4DLF, Treasurer reported that the balance in the Clubs checking account was approximately $2,263 (of which $800 is reserve from Life Members and $700 in Museum Fund) The General Fund has approximately $750. David stated that if you had not yet received your 2011 membership card, they would be at the front of the Auditorium. If not there, please call David and he'll see that a new Card will be printed up for you. The Club shirts are almost ready to be ordered. They'll be Yellow with Red lettering and will have the Club Logo, members name and Call sign and should retail for around $25. Volunteers at the Museum will have a slightly different design, but the colors would be similar

                                OLD BUSINESS: Our club web site is now linked directly to the Museum. A motion was made for a Five Hundred Dollar ($500) expenditure to be made from the Museums portion of the Clubs checking account for construction of the Dividing Wall at the Museum. The motion was seconded, voted on and approved. One of the Club members stated that he would contribute up to two hundred dollars ($200), if the building expense exceeded the Five Hundred Dollars. A very nice size Technician Class is being formed (around 15 people), and it looks as though it should start around April 23rd if the class space is available from the Museum.
                                A General Class will probably start in Late June following the issuance of the new Exam questions. John Fulford, WA4VPY, stated that the Club repeater is now working with minimal range. It will be broadcasting on 146.745 MgH. Rex Rathbun, AJ4GC, stated that they have applied for a D-Star frequency and that they still needed to obtain a minimum of four duplexer cans. Jeff Beals, WA4AW, spoke about the ARRL being opposed to that portion of the House Bill that would have eliminated the 440 MgH frequency from the UHF bands for Amateur Radio use.

                                NEW BUSINESS: No new business

The minutes of the previous month's meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, spoke about the success of the previous month's raffle of the Icom ID-880H D-Star Radio and said that there would be another raffle of the same type of radio in the month of August. The Club would be holding their “Fall Frolic” picnic in October and the exact date would be mentioned in the coming month or so. Also, the members are strongly urged to make sure they are on the “exclusive” club mailing list. By doing this, they are assured they will always be kept up to date on Club news and events. Everyone is encouraged to go to our Web Site (http://www.WPBARC.com) which will also allow access to other areas of interest. Daniel Sanchez, KJ4PWP, is doing a fantastic job on the site. And members and friends may join the Yahoo Group that the Club maintains. (WPB_ARC @ Yahoogroups.com). As a reminder, the Annual ARRL Field Day will be held on the Museum grounds on June 25th and June 26th. Please plan on joining with the other members. Our goal is to be Number 1 in our section.

                                Secretary's Report: Jerry Grant, KIU4NUV, stated that if anyone wanted copies of any previous month's minutes to please notify him and he will email them to you. Jerry also stated that recruiting is ongoing, and that with the exception of the month of May, postcards are being sent out monthly to licensees in various zip codes.

                                Treasurers Report: David Fowler, K4DLF, gave a total balance in the checkbook of $3,400. He broke down the various accounts within the master account and explained how the monies were allocated. Membership cards are available. If anyone has not received a membership card yet, please notify David. Work is still progressing on the Club shirts.

                                Committee Reports:
                                Science Museum: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported that work is almost completed and that we'll be back to our normal schedule in June. He always needs volunteers to work during the summer since the Museum maintains a Summer Camp, with weekly sessions that will run through August 19th

                                Instructional: David Fowler, K4DLF, stated that a Technician Class should be starting in late June or early July. Bob Staretz, K1KZV, said his class on basic electronics will be starting on Saturday morning, June 18th running from 11 AM until 2 PM at the Museum.

                                FM Repeater: John Fulford, WA4VPY, said that as soon as some tubes were installed, the Repeater should be up and running at the Museum.

                                D-Star Repeater: Rex Rathbun, AJ4GC, was absent, but knowledgeable members stated that the repeater was up and running

                                Historical Committee: Jeff Beals, WA4AW, was absent, but had reported he needed some help in scanning printed materials into digital format.


                                Equipment Custodian: David Hummell, Vice-President, KG2BX, stated that if anyone has any club equipment at home that they let him know what they have so he can keep track of it. Otherwise, his equipment list is being updated.

                                Web Site: Daniel Sanchez, KJ4PPWP, stated that he had upgraded the web site and that it was looking fantastic. The President acknowledged what a fine job that Daniel was doing

                                FM Nets: Daniel Sanchez, KJ4PWP, has been assuming Net Control of the Tuesday night net and has been doing a great job

                                Old Business:
                                The “WAPB” or “Worked All Palm Beach” Contest and Award will be offered by the Club and details are being finalized on dates and requirements.

                                Field Trips: John Fulford, WA4VPY, is still investigating the trip to a Shortwave Radio Station in the Western part of Palm Beach County

                                New Business:
                                WX4NHC Annual “On-The-Air” Station Test from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 1300-2100 UTC (9 AM – 5 PM EDT) using 14.325 MHz +/- QRM & other bands as directed.                                 John Fulford, WA4VPY, and Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, are investigating a December Field Trip to the Billie Swamp Safari on the Seminole Reservation in the Florida everglades. This will be an overnight trip (for those who can do it) and an operating event with our generators, radios, portable antennas, etc. As further information is received, the membership will be notified.

                                INTRODUCTION OF MEMBERS, GUESTS, AND MEMBERHIP MEETING MINUTES: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, an introduction was made of officers, members and guests. There were sixty four members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months meeting, (March) had not been received by some of the members and they were to be written up again and passed out at the next months meeting

                                PRESIDENTS REPORT: The President, Tom Loughney, spoke about the raffle of the Icon 880 D Star radio that would occur after the meeting was finished. He mentioned that there still was time to purchase the raffle tickets before the drawing. The WPBARC Spring Fling Picnic had been held on April 17th at Dreher Park, just a few hundred feet south of the Museum It was a huge success with the largest group in years showing up to eat the great food prepared by our Master Chefs. Over forty five members and guests were there for the picnic. The Florida QSO Party was set for April 30 and May 1st. Information was available at http://www.floridaqsoparty.org. Tom spoke about the special funding that was needed for both the Museum Repeater as well as the new D-Star Repeater. A motion was made, seconded and approved stating that the Board of Directors would be allowed to vote for and approve expenditures made by members for personal monies spent, in excess of the usual one hundred dollars, for items needed for the repeaters.

                                SECRETARIES REPORT: Jerry Grant, Secretary, KI4NUV, spoke about his continuing efforts to recruit new members via email, postcards, and letters. His own personal email list now had almost two hundred addresses of licensees.

                                TREASURERS REPORT: David Fowler, Treasurer, K4DLF, reported that the General Fund had over One Thousand Dollars in it, the Reserve Fund had One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars and the Museum Fund also had a positive balance. Membership cards are available and if you haven't received one after you paid your dues, please email him at K4DLF@arrl.net. The Club Shirts are almost ready to be ordered.

                                OLD BUSINESS: Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported that the Science Museum project, Phase II, was almost complete. There was just some finishing touches needed to be done. We had good volunteers for the month of May, but we were going to need more volunteers during the Summer when the Museum had their Summer Camps schedules operational.

                                David Fowler spoke about a Technician Class hopefully starting within several months, that would run on Saturdays from 10 AM until 1 PM. A Basic electronic Class was going to be offered and taught by Bob Staritz running on Saturdays, from 11 AM until 2 PM, starting on June 18th and running for eight consecutive weeks.

                                John Fulford reported that the Club Repeater located at the Science Museum was almost operational and Rex Rathbun told that the new D-Star Repeater, located at his house, was fully operational and working well.
                                Jeff Beals, WA4AW, stated that the materials for the Club History was huge and that he would like some help getting the material organized.

                                NEW BUSINESS: John Fulford spoke about a possible trip to Okeechobee on a Sunday morning, in lieu of a Sunday Breakfast. More information will follow

                                David Hummel, vice-President, stated that he needed a list of any equipment that was being donated to the Club

                                Introduction of Members, Guests, and Membership Meeting Minutes: Tom Loughney, AJ4XM, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM and asked that the Pledge of Allegiance be given. After the Pledge, and introduction was made of Officers and guests. There were 48 members and guests present. The minutes of the previous months' meeting were approved and entered into the record.

                                Presidents Report: The President, tom Loughney, spoke about the successful Club “Fall Frolic” Picnic held on November 20th and the just as successful “Fox Hunt” event that occurred during the picnic. The large number of members and guests at the event was evidence of its success.

                                Tom reminded the membership about the Okeechobee Hamfest that was coming up in several days, Saturday, November 26

                                The Club's Annual Holiday dinner was coming up on Sunday December 11th, and was going to be held at Cardello's Restaurant on Northlake Blvd. in Lake Park/North Palm Beach. The cost was $25 per person which included “All You can Eat”. The monies had to be prepaid prior to the event.

                                Donations are needed for the Club. Individuals can donate equipment and/or money and can do so via PayPal/Credit Cards on the website.

                                A new Raffle of a Yaesu FT-8800 is now being held. Tickets may be purchased at the meetings and the raffle will be held at the January meeting

                                Secretary's Report - Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, Secretary, mentioned that Minutes from past meetings are posted on the Club's website. Only registered and paid members have access, however, to the Board Minutes.

                                If you have not received this year's membership card, please notify Jerry and he will get one out to you.

                                Club Shirt orders are again being taken. The order is going in to the company shortly and will be the last order made until 2012.

                                Treasurer's Report –Bev Hof, K1BEV, Treasurer, reported that the balance in the Clubs treasury was $2,3070.19.

                                Committee Reports –
                                Science Museum - Jerry Grant, KI4NUV, reported that we still needed a few volunteers at the Museum
                                For December, but the number of school trips was minimal because of the upcoming Holidays.

                                Repeater Updates - Rex Rathbun, AJ4GC and Mike Renz, KA1UDV, gave reports on both the D-Star as
                                well as the Club Repeater and the status of both

                                Old Business –
                                Election of Officers – The Club voted for those Officer candidates that were on the ballot. The results
                                were that the same Officers for the year 2011 were re-elected again for 2012.

                                New Business –
                                John Samuels reminded everyone that he had his Service Monitor at the front of the Auditorium and
                                that if anyone wished to have their 2 meter HTs checked, he would run a check for them after the
                                meeting was over

                                Bob Staretz reminded everyone that there was going to be a VHF Contest on January 21 at the site
                                of the old Lantana Dump and if anyone was interested to let him know. Quite a few hands went up
                                so it was decided to have the event at the same location that we had it last year

                                The meeting was adjourned at 7:37 PM

                                Program: Tom Gallagher, N4GRF, gave a fantastic presentation of “Cyber Warfare – Security Breaches- and China” The talk was done extremely well and the members and guests were extremely grateful for Tom doing the marvelous presentation
